Judging by the performances the dudes turned in this week, I’m gonna say it’ll be a girl. At least some of them turned in really good performances. The guys were all train wrecks to one degree or another. What do you think?

Poll: Vegas Week?
I think Vegas week is dumb, dumb, dumb. And a waste of time. It’s probably fair to say that if the producers like a contestant, having this extra group stuff probably helps, because the producers can promote their favorites (or at least the people they’d most like to win). If you’re poor Hollie Cavanagh, though, you’re basically getting screwed.

Poll: The best of the best of the rest
Who do you think should have made it through to the top 13? I think Lauren Turner could have been a contender, and might have spared us an all-country finale. I think Rachel Zevita had real potential, or at least was interesting, though I’m not sure how far she would have gone (particularly if she continued to make bad choices, like ruining Fiona Apple’s “Criminal”). I did think Brett was just adorable, too, and wished he could have gone further. Ah, well. What do you all think?

New poll: On Casey being the Vote for the Worst pick
Personally I think that the VFTW pick should be Stefano or Jacob, or eve Scotty. I’m terribly terribly fond of Casey; he’s a super talented bassist, he sings pretty well, and he’s just adorable. What do you all think?

New poll: How robbed was Lauren Turner?
This season Idol has been shedding female contestants like… something that sheds a lot; my cats, for example. I have to think that if they had kept Lauren Turner in the competition, this may not have been the case (recall that she was not even invited to sing to be in the top 13, despite being considerably more talented than, just to pick one, Stefano Langone). I could easily see her outlasting Thia Megia and Naima, for example, and probably some of the guys (though lord knows we hate to vote off guys) as well. She could be right up there in my favorites list with Casey, James, and Haley. Alas, ’twas not to be.
In case anyone has forgotten how awesome she was the one time we got to see a full performance from her, here’s her Top 24 rendition of “Seven Day Fool.”
Fortunately for us, she’s still making music; check out her Youtube channel, particularly this video she recorded of Adele’s “Crazy for You.” Someone sign this girl, stat!

New poll: Idol timeslots
This year, American Idol is shown on Wednesday and Thursday nights, rather than the Tuesday/Wednesday showing of yore (naturally the three-day weeks, i.e. during the Top 24, were still Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday). Personally, I prefer the old Tuesday/Wednesday timeslots. What do y’all think?
